How to Make Gazebo Decorations

No matter the occasion, a gazebo provides shelter and a focal point for any outdoor event. From a 4th of July town picnic to that special wedding day, decorating a gazebo to complement the day is relatively easy if you remember the rule that "bigger is better"! While the design of each gazebo may differ, the basic shape is much the same. Keep in mind that the decorations will need to be seen from farther away and so should be large enough to be noticed easily. You may also need to ask permission to install hardware if it is not already available for your use.

Instructions

Hang the tulle and bunting or ribbon. Start at the back of the gazebo on the outside. Staple the edge of the bunting or ribbon on the fascia board located on the bottom of the roof of the gazebo. Continue securing the bunting or ribbon until you have gone around the gazebo. Move to the inside and secure the tulle in the same way, allowing it to drape so that there is a gentle curve in the center of each open section. Tie large bows with tulle and secure with florist wire, then set aside.

Hang strings of small lights. These lights come in a variety of solid colors as well as multicolored strings. Mainly used for Christmas trees and holiday light displays, they work well for any occasion. Secure strings of outdoor lights on the outside edge of the roof. Wrap posts in light strands as well, using a staple gun to secure them in place, being careful not to pierce the wires. Place additional strings of lights on the railing of the gazebo.

Wrap garlands around the front and back posts, making sure to place them between the strands of lights. Secure in place with a staple gun or wire. Place additional garlands on the railings, so that they drape down in the center of each section, matching the tulle draping above. Hang one bow on the railing centered in the draped section of the garland. Secure using florist wire.

Decorate garlands using silk or real flowers secured with florist wire. Stagger the flowers so that they are evenly spaced in each section.
