Completing the building of a gazebo requires that you anchor the structure securely in place, and few anchorage surfaces provide as strong a base for your gazebo as does a cement patio. With the legs of the gazebo properly anchored to the patio using wedge anchors, the gazebo is protected from being blown away by strong winds or carried off by flooding. In addition, the anchors are easily removed, allowing you to move the gazebo when necessary.
Instructions
- 1
Position the completed gazebo on the patio on the location in which you plan to anchor it in place. Check the legs of the gazebo to ensure than theyre plumb and level using a carpenters level, and adjust the placement of the legs if necessary.
2Mark the locations of the mounting holes located at the base of the gazebo legs onto the patio using a piece of chalk and then move the patio out of the way of the markings so that you can access them for drilling.
3Attach a 1/2-inch masonry bit to a hammer drill and then drill through the patio surface at the chalk marked mounting holes 1/2-inch deeper than the length of the anchor bolts youre using to secure the gazebo in place. Clear concrete dust from the holes with a nylon brush.
4Fill each of the drilled holes with a wedge anchor, using a hammer to nail the anchors into the hole until flush with the patio surface. Remove the nuts from each of the anchors, exposing the bolts. Set the gazebo legs back into position over the anchor holes, with the mounting holes on the gazebo base placed over the bolts of the anchors.
5Place a washer over the bolts and then return the nuts onto the bolts, hand tightening each nut into place. After hand tightening all the nuts, go back over each and tighten them fully with a socket wrench containing a 9/16-inch socket.
