As a lightweight and colorful fabric, tulle is a favorite decoration at many weddings. The material can be arranged in a variety of ways throughout a ceremony and reception to enhance a wedding's theme, mood or overall beauty. At the ceremony, decorate the arch or gazebo with the fabric and line the aisle with bows made out of it. Continue using tulle to decorate the reception by adding it to flower arrangements or streaming it across the ceiling.
Instructions
- 1
Look for a few colors of tulle to incorporate throughout your wedding. Tulle comes in almost every hue, so pick some that will carry your wedding's theme or feel. If you don't want the tulle to stand out too much, consider a white or pearl-colored sheet to decorate with.
2Drape tulle on your wedding arch or gazebo. This will set a dramatic background to your ceremony. Drape long sheets of the fabric over the structure. Use enough to let it flow to the ground. Wrap posts of the arch or gazebo with tulle. Secure it in place with clear zip ties and adorn with flowers or ribbon.
3Create tulle bows for decorating church pews, ceremony seating, or other aspects of the wedding. Buy the fabric in a roll that's around 6 inches to 12 inches wide. Mark on a piece of cardboard how wide you want each bow to be. Staying within this measurement, fold the tulle back and forth like an accordion. Pin it into the cardboard as you work to keep it in place. Fold the tulle back and forth at least five times. Each complete fold will be one loop in the bow. When you're done folding, pin all four corners of the tulle in place. Using another 3-foot piece of tulle, slide it underneath the folded tulle and tie it in the center with a secure knot. Unpin the tulle and fluff out the loops to create a full bow.
4Stream tulle from the ceiling of your reception venue. Gather long sheets of the material to create a full look. Secure the fabric starting in the center of the ceiling, such as behind a chandelier. Let it flow outward across the ceiling in all directions, fastening it on the other side with a staple gun or strong tape. For an extra twinkle, add string lights in the drapes of the tulle.
5Attach tulle to the bottom of bouquets or into flowered centerpieces. The fabric will add an extra flow to the bride's bouquet as she walks down the aisle. Tie it to the stems using a piece of ribbon. Weave bursts of the fabric into flower arrangements to create some more texture and to include other colors in the centerpiece.
