How to Decorate a Gazebo for Prom

Prom is a special event for teenagers as they wind down their days in high school. Theme ideas, lavish decorations and an attention to detail help set a prom apart from other school dances and social events. One decorating item suitable for a prom is a gazebo, which can serve as the focal point of the prom for picture taking to help preserve memories. Decorating a gazebo for a prom involves both hands-on work and pre-planning.

Instructions

Make a list of the main prom colors, along with any other theme elements. For example, if the prom is a beach theme, write down that you should use beach chairs and umbrellas in the colors of red and white throughout the venue.

Tie satin ribbons to the bottom of roses and other flowers. Write the name of each student on the ribbons using permanent marker. For example, if the prom theme colors are red and white, use red roses throughout the gazebo and use white satin ribbon. Weave the ribbon through the holes of the gazebo so the names cascade down through the top of the gazebo. Make sure to use black ink so you can read the names.

Inflate balloons with helium to tie to the side posts of the gazebo. Use the same colors as the roses and ribbon or opt for coordinating colors that tie in to other prom decorations.

Weave greenery through the top portion of the railing, using white strings of light to accent the greenery. Add strings of white lights to other areas of the gazebo to provide ambient lighting. Attach lights to the top of the gazebo as well so that light radiates downward as well.

Position spotlights on the sides, front and back of the gazebo to illuminate the entire display.
