There are times when you may need to anchor an item to a stone patio to ensure its solid installation. Anchoring to stone is accomplished in much the same way as anchoring items to concrete. It is necessary to have an electric drill with the proper size masonry bit. Using masonry anchors ensures a strong installation.
Instructions
- 1
Use a black marker to mark the patio in the spots where holes must be drilled to anchor the item. Hold the item in the place where it will be installed. Make a mark on the patio through the holes in the item, using the marker. Double-check the marks to ensure that they are in the right places before you drill.
2Use an electric drill with a masonry drill bit sized to the masonry anchors being used. Hold the drill at a 90-degree angle to the patio on one of the marks. Drill a hole deep enough to accommodate the anchor. Drill the hole straight into the patio, not at an angle.
3Insert a masonry anchor into the hole. Tap the anchor gently in place with a hammer until it is flush with the patio surface.
4Install the item using an electric drill with a driver bit to fasten a masonry screw through the item and into the anchor in the stone patio. Repeat this process for as many screws as the item requires.
