Low-Cost Outdoor Wedding Ideas With Silver & Purple

If you're planning a wedding on a budget, an outdoor wedding can save you a bundle. You can still make the wedding look elegant, however, by using colors like silver and purple. By purchasing items used, borrowing other pieces and shopping for sales, you can stay within your budget and still have the wedding of your dreams.

If you are fortunate enough to have a gazebo or some type of cover already in your backyard, you can purchase purple and silver sheers in the curtain section of any discount store. The best deals are usually found at stores like Pottery Barn and Wal-Mart. You may also want to ask for a discount if buying in bulk. These sheers can then be woven or hung on the gazebo or tent, wrapped around chairs and draped over tables for an explosion of purple and silver that is whimsical and romantic.

Most outdoor weddings transition from the actual ceremony to a tented area where the reception is held. Centerpieces become the focal point of this event. Luckily, you can make low-cost centerpieces from many items.

Silver trays with purple candles make a pretty statement. Pick up used trays from thrift stores, clean them carefully and buy slender pillar candles in different heights in all purple, or a mixture of purple and white. Some brides choose to rent wine glasses and tuck silver and purple flowers in them, placing them in a circle in the center of the table. Borrow vases from different friends and relatives and fill them with fresh flowers in purple and white. You can tie a silver bow around each vase. Don't worry if each table has a vase that is just a bit different from the others.

Flowers can create a huge expense in a wedding. Luckily, carnations are inexpensive flowers and can be painted any color you choose. Buy white carnations in bulk at wholesale costs; paint them with floral spray paint yourself. Better yet, find a friend or family member with a vibrant garden and ask if you can use some of her flowers as your wedding gift. The only cost involved would be your time spent painting the flowers and preparing bouquets.

Portable arches can be rented from wedding party supply companies. These arches are a beautiful backdrop for the couple getting married. You can drape the arch in the sheer panels mentioned above, and add some flowers at the top or a huge silver and purple bow.
