The Best Way to Decorate a Gazebo for a Wedding

Gazebos are permanent garden structures that are often used in outdoor weddings. Since they can be a focal point of the event, it is important to have them decorated appropriately. Tulle, ribbon and flowers can transform a plain gazebo into a custom venue for your ceremony or reception. Choose colors that complement your bridal party and theme. Tulle comes in many different colors, some with a shimmer effect added. Use the same flowers that are used in your bouquets or complementary blooms.

Instructions

Measure the height and width of the gazebo to determine how much tulle it will take to decorate. Take into account draping and swag by multiplying the height of the gazebo by two and the width by three. More tulle may be needed to make bows or if you decide to extend the design down the railings of the gazebo.

Choose the color of the tulle. White softens the straight lines of a gazebo, while a colorful or sparkly tulle can add a pop of whimsy or romance to the decor.

Set up a ladder or sturdy chair in the gazebo. Fold the entire length of tulle in half. Tack the center of the tulle to the top center of the entrance to the gazebo with a thumbtack or small nail.

Gather the tulle on each side and wrap it loosely with pipe cleaners. Move the chair to the front corner of the gazebo and attach the tulle by hanging it from the pipe cleaner. These soft circles of wire allow the tulle to be adjusted as you go. Do the same on the other front corner and then continue around the entire interior. Often gazebos will have nails or other hooks located around the interior for you to hang the pipe cleaner circles onto. Once all the tulle is hung, adjust the drape until it is even. Firmly press the pipe cleaners to hold the tulle in place.

Add a bouquet of fresh or silk flowers to the center of the gazebo. Be sure to firmly affix the tulle and flowers since this will be the focal point of the design.

Cover the posts with wide widths of tulle by fixing a section at the top with a pipe cleaner and thumbtack or small nail. Gather the material at the center with a bouquet of fresh or silk flowers or a large ribbon bow.
