Decorating Ideas for a Wedding Gazebo

Decorating a gazebo for your wedding ceremony adds your own unique style to your ceremony. Match colors to fit your ideal theme with flowers and lightweight fabric materials, adding a simple, yet classic touch to your wedding ceremony. Incorporate not only visual decorations, but include soft scents to add that special extra touch.

Fresh flowers not only add to the ambiance of an outdoor wedding theme, but provide a beautiful floral scent during the wedding ceremony. Depending on the time of the year, selecting fresh flowers that are in season can cut the expenses of your wedding budget. While most fresh flowers can be expensive, you can choose to cut flowers from your garden to include in your design. Roses are considered an expression of love and can be arranged in any combination you like. Mini roses mixed with larger roses add a designer touch to your wedding arrangements. Roses are available in many colors and styles and may be attached to the gazebo with floral tape. If you choose to use roses to decorate the gazebo, clip off the thorns with a small gardening tool. Always wear gardening gloves when handling roses. Create or buy an arrangement for the entryway of the gazebo and secure the flowers to the lattice. Use sturdy flowers that will hold up in the heat or the wind.

Silk floral arrangements are less expensive than fresh flowers. Silk flowers can be used in the same manner as fresh flowers. Add a floral scent to the ceremony by burning lightly scented floral incense sticks placed around the gazebo. Sticks of incense can be stuck in the ground near the back and sides of the gazebo. Find out which direction the wind should be blowing on the day of your wedding and place the incense sticks accordingly. If the wind is moving in the opposite direction, incense sticks may be placed in holders behind the rows of guest seating, so the floral scent will drift toward the gazebo. Keep the scent light, however, because some guests may be allergic to incense.

Tissue paper flowers can be crafted at home before the wedding and are easy to make. Choose colors of tissue paper that complement your wedding scheme. Tissue paper flowers can be attached to the gazebo with floral wire or hung from the top of the gazebo with clear fishing line. According to Martha Stewart, tissue paper flowers are made by stacking eight 20-inch-by-30-inch sheets of tissue paper. Fold the tissue paper accordion style in 1 1/2-inch sections. Add a stem by folding an 18-inch floral wire in half. Secure the folded tissue paper by placing the wire in the center and twisting. Separate the layers one at a time by pulling away from the center. The edges may be trimmed in pointed shapes or you may leave the flowers rounded.

Tulle is a lightweight mesh material that is used to create wedding veils and bridal dresses. Tulle can be secured to the gazebo, around the columns, rails and top, adding a flowing soft look to your ceremony. Always use long sections of tulle and secure it well. Because tulle is lightweight, the smallest breeze can blow it off the gazebo.
