Every time you set up a portable outdoor gazebo, you pull the cover over the corners of the frame and stretch it tightly before setting it out in the sun. All these things place stress on the fabric and cause the cover to wear out more quickly than the frame. Even if the old cover is severely damaged, you can sew a new cover to fit your particular gazebo by tracing the frame to make a pattern.

Remove the cover and legs from the cabana to make it easier to handle. Lay the cabana upside down on a large sheet of paper so one of the triangular sections of the roof is flat on the paper.
2Trace along the lines where the edges of the frame touch the paper. You will have a large triangle.
3Measure the length and width of one of the rectangles that form the sides of the top of the frame. Draw a rectangle with these measurements on a large sheet of paper.
4Add seam allowances to the patterns by drawing a line 5/8 of an inch away from all sides of the triangle and the rectangle. Cut four triangles and four rectangles from heavy outdoor canvas.
5Thread a sewing machine with upholstery thread and sew the side edges of two of the triangles together. The side edges run from the top point of the gazebo to the corner of the gazebo. Place these edges together and stitch 5/8 inch from the edge. Trim one of the seam allowances, the fabric that extends beyond the edge of the seam, to 1/4 inch. Iron both seam allowances to the side with the smaller seam. Fold the larger seam allowance over the smaller seam allowance and iron the fold. Stitch the folded seam allowances down on both sides, sewing 1/16 inch from the fold and 1/16 inch from the original seam. This is called a flat felled seam.
6Sew the other two triangles together in the same way. You have made the two halves of the top of the cover. Pin the raw edges of the halves together, matching the top points and the corners. Sew the halves together with a flat felled seam.
7Make a ring of fabric by sewing the short ends of the rectangular pieces together, using flat felled seams. Sew this ring of fabric to the bottom edge of the top of the cover with a flat felled seam. Match the seams on the ring to the seams on the top.
8Fold up 5/8 inch on the bottom edge of the cover. Iron this fold. Make a narrow hem by folding in the raw edge in to meet the crease of the fold. Sew the hem in place by stitching 1/8 inch from the fold.
9Cut four strips of nylon strapping 12 inches longer than the legs of the gazebo. Sew the strips securely to the corners of the cover. Attach plastic strapping slides and clip hooks to the straps according to the package directions.
